If you're considering using Designmatic for one of your design or web projects, here's some answers to any questions you might have...

 

What is the procedure for Designmatic to create a website?
Once we’ve discussed your design requirements, we’ll then send you a quote for the work, together with our terms of business. There's no obligation at all at this stage. If you decide you would like to accept the quote we will require a deposit before we can get started on the design.


How can we convey our ideas for the design of the site?
When you meet us, bring with you any text/images/brochures that are relevant to the project – it’s always handy if you could also let us have a few url’s (website addresses) of websites you like/dislike.


How do we make a decision on the design?
We’ll provide you with two or three initial design templates based on your specifications. Once you decide on a preferred route, we’ll develop the visuals and collect any images & text from you that we’ll need for the website. Once the final design has been approved we’ll then begin the website build.


What if I change my mind?
We always expect there to be a few changes to the overall design, and we will work with you to make sure that the final design is what you want. However, once the look of the site has been agreed and we are at a later stage in the design, any major reworking of the existing design will result in additional charges if substantial extra work is required. We will of course inform you of this at the time, before we do the work, and will only go ahead when we have your say-so.

What’s the average timescale for a website design & build?
For an average 5 page website, it usually takes around 4-5 days to create the initial design presentation (a design presentation will usually consist of 2 or 3 different design options). Once you’ve chosen a design route and signed off the final design, the website build usually takes approx two weeks to complete. However, this timescale assumes that your copy and images are ready in preparation for the website build.

We don’t have any images for our website – can Designmatic help?
Yes, that’s no problem. If you do not have your own images, we can either arrange for a photographer or select some suitable images from stock photography sites.


We also need help writing the copy for our website – can Designmatic help?
Again, that’s not a problem. We have copywriters that we will be able to put you in touch with.

Will my website get found on the search engines?
All of our websites are built with SEO (search engine optimization) in mind. This means that we prepare each page of your website so that it stands every chance of being referenced by search engines such as Google and Yahoo. However, if its crucial that your website appears on the first page of Google, then we would advise you on purchasing our special SEO package in conjunction with your website design. Your website will then be prepared by a web analytic team who specialise in Search Engine Optimization.

What if we need to update the content after the website is finished?
After the website is finished, small updates (for example the addition or replacement of a paragraph of text or an image to a page, or changes required to reflect a new address or ‘phone number) are free of charge. Designmatic will always strive to offer you help and advice regarding your website long after the design has been finished. However if your website needs updating regularly (on a monthly basis or more often) you might need to consider a maintenance contract. Changes such as the reorganisation of the website structure or the creation of extra pages will incur additional costs at any stage.

Will we be able to update the website ourselves?
To be able to update the website yourself, we can design a Content Management System (CMS) which will allow you to update pages and images simply by logging into an online administration area within your website. This will be classed as additional functionality and will be quoted for separately. You’ll also need to decide this before the start of the website build.

What if I already have a website and just want a few changes?
We are used to working with existing designs and updating or adding to them. We will price the work according to the time it will take.


Are there any other costs aside from design?
The only other costs involved with having a website will be an annual hosting charge and domain name registration. We'd be happy to secure your domain name registration and host your website and provide emails if you'd like us to.
